La hawla wa la quwwata
There is no power and no strength save in God
لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِٱللَّٰهِ
Lā ḥawla wa-lā quwwata illā bi-llāh
The ḥawqala — there is no power and no strength except through God. It is recited as dhikr and in difficulty; the cited hadith describes it as a treasure of Paradise.

What the words say
Ḥawl is the capacity to turn or change something; quwwa is strength to carry it through. The sentence denies both to the speaker and returns them to God — it is said while doing the thing, not instead of doing it, which is how the classical commentators read it.
Where it comes from
The phrase is taught in the ḥadīth as a response to hardship and as a dhikr of great weight. Its name, ḥawqala, is one of the Arabic compressions that also gave basmala and ḥamdala.
