The full moon of Vesākha, as Theravāda calendars in South and Southeast Asia reckon it.
Why communities differ
Sri Lanka, Thailand, Myanmar and Cambodia each reckon the full moon on their own calendar, so the day can differ between them. Many East Asian Mahāyāna communities keep the Buddha’s birth on the eighth day of the fourth lunar month instead, which is a different date altogether.
