The first ten days of the pilgrimage month, especially valued in Islam as a time for good deeds and remembrance of God.

When it falls
Whose reckoning these dates follow
The first ten days of Dhū al-Ḥijja on the Umm al-Qura civil calendar. The ninth is the Day of ʿArafah; the tenth is Eid al-Adha.
Why communities differ
As with Ramadan, a local sighting can move the start by a day. Communities that follow the Saudi announcement for Ḥajj and a local sighting for everything else will see the two diverge.
The day begins at sunset on the evening before the date shown.
