Japa

Diwali, Festival of Lights

6–11 November 2026 · India time (UTC+5:30)

Six original reflections from Japa, from Dhanteras to Bhai Dooj, with Lakshmi and Ganapati mantra counting. Follow your own tradition; these prompts are invitations, not ritual instructions.

The programme runs 6–11 November 2026, India time. Preview all six reflections below.

Event counting is free. No purchase or saved-practice slot is needed.

  1. Clear a space

    Friday, November 6

Many homes are cleaned before the lamps are lit. Before you count, put one small thing in order, then sit with the mantra in a little more room.

  2. One lamp is enough

    Saturday, November 7

A single small flame is enough to see by. Light a lamp or a candle if you can, and let each repetition be as steady as the flame.

  3. The darkest night

    Sunday, November 8

The new-moon night in the middle of Diwali is the darkest of the month. Count slowly, and let what you ask for be for the whole household, not only for yourself.

  4. A second day of new moon

    Monday, November 9

This year the new moon lasts into a second day, and Govardhan Puja comes tomorrow. Keep a quiet sitting today, with last night's lamps still in mind.

  5. Share what you have

    Tuesday, November 10

Think of something you have more of than you need, whether food, time or attention. Let a few repetitions carry the wish to share it.

  6. Those close to you

    Wednesday, November 11

Bring to mind a brother, a sister, or anyone who has been family to you. Hold them in mind for one round, and close with gratitude, whether you joined today or on the first day.
